Snow, in J.R.R. Tolkien's words

The Quenya words for snow are lossë (snow or snow-white), niquë (snow), and is (light snow).

The Sindarin word for snow is loss (especially fallen or long-lying snow). The word gloss is an adjective meaning snow-white or dazzling-white.
