Stone, in J.R.R. Tolkien's words

The Quenya word for stone is ondo (stone as a material, rock) or sar (pebble, stone) or sarna (of stone).

The Sindarin word for stone is sarn (stone as a material, pebble) or gond (stone, rock).

I learned by something interesting looking up this word -- Gondor, the Middle-Earth kingdom where you'd find the city of Minas Tirith, means "Land of Stone" in Sindarin.
